Muted In A Perfect Black Now Available

The third installment from MAGGOTAPPLEWONDERLAND continues in all it's malignant glory that first garnered them attention six years ago with their debut "Six Hits of Sunshine... and the Bruises To Show." Be assured that they have not abandoned their trademark dissonance or melancholic passages in trade for whatever is currently in fashion. Instead, 'Muted in a Perfect Black" could quite be their most inaccessible offering to date. MAW continue to embrace juxtaposed frequencies with morose melody and frantic sound design, creating an unsettling, often trance-like state. Lye down, kill the lights and unravel. This is a toast to the malign.

Weekend with the Cap'n

This Saturday work will commence on post mixing and editing of the next MAGGOTAPPLEWONDERLAND release. I've been combing over the Nashville set and the previous four tracks me and the Cap'n worked on and can definetly say there is a ton of great material to work with.

Three Holes and a Covert Lightning Bug Pt. 2

So what does "Three Holes" mean anyway? Good question. Search it on YouTube and you'll see. And the Covert Lightning Bug? Well, you just had to be there. As it turns out it was a smoke alarm. Crazy what lack of sleep can do to you. It was green and blinking, and 7am...
All in all we recorded almost 9GB of material to go through over the next couple months. It's a rather diverse offering as a lot of percussion made its way to the mix and some tasty patches I've coded and Shapton's new Midi Pedal set up.
We tracked everything in Live version 7 and monitored through headphones. Rough tracks already sound promising.

Three Holes and a Covert Lightning Bug Pt. 1

Good times were abound this past weekend in room 106 of the Hyatt in Brentwood, TN.
Our good friends Joe Baine (Lake Fever Productions) and Andy Harper (Limited Wave) swung by, had a few drinks and took a look at the mobile MAW studio. We auditioned material back and forth, dealt with numerous audio gremlins and finally around 3am started rolling tape, er... disc.
We monitored everything via headphones so as to not wake the people next door. However, I'm pretty sure they couldn't help but overhear us when we were busting guts poking fun at the band "Hell Yeah" and their tragic band name. Like ours is any better. But honestly, we know it is. Sorry Vinny, but we gave it a big "Hell No."
